Etymology

'The bee-keepers' farm', from bīcere and tūn , with hall . The affixes are ME  nerre 'nearer', OE  fyrr (ME  fur (re )) 'farther', and clif 'a cliff', from Bickerton Hill infra . Bickerton is a mile or so from Bickley, v. 7infra , cf. Bickley Brook 8infra .
