Etymology

Norbin's Wd, boscus qui vocatur Northbynn 1239–40FF , boscus qui vocatur Norbinne 1248–52ib , Norbins 1761 Rocque. The wood is in the extreme N. of the parish, and the name is another example of OE  norð -binnan , 'north within', which has given Norbin W 126 and Norbins in Glastonbury So, v. binnan .
