Etymology

Norr, Norr Hill, (a messuage called) Norre 1599, 1610Stansf 538–45, Nor 1704 LPTax, Norr Hill 1850TA ; the only suggestion to be made for this is ME  knorre 'a knot on a tree, a swelling', perhaps with a topographical extension of meaning to describe the prominent Norr Hill (1″ O.S. 96–1036).
