Etymology

Miss Cottages (6″) and fields called Hilly and Little Miss , Miss Wood and Meadow are referred to as lands called Mystemede in 1492Ct , Mysse in 1622Lewes Deeds and took their names from Nicholas le Mist (1327 SR). The same nickname seems to be found in Godwin Mist in Beds (Harl 83 A 47, c. 1200).
