Etymology
Welton Gorehall. Goringhall 1650, Gorehall 1772, Prebendary or Canonry of Welton Westhall and Gorehall 1803 (Prebends of West-hall and Gore-hall combined in 1291 (Hunt, 1910, p. 5). Gorehall is a compound of gāra 'a gore, a triangular plot of ground, a point of land' and hall 1 'a hall, a manor-house'.
