Etymology

'The site of the enclosure with a dwelling in it', v. wīc-tūn, stall .The modern name is taken from the family of John Finney who married the heiress of the Wittonstall family in 1608 (Earw I 149), v. grēne 2 'a green', cf. Finney Field 1840TA , Finney Lee 226infra .
