Etymology

The ancient parish consisted of 1. Wilmslow (the church and churchyard), 2. Bollin Fee (including the hamlet of Hough), 3. Chorley (including the now separate c.p. of Alderley Edge), 4. Fulshaw, 5. Pownall Fee (including the hamlets of Morley and Styal, the latter of which had a brief existence as a c.p. in the nineteenth century). This survey follows the boundaries drawn in Bryant's map of 1831.
