Etymology

'Alder-tree farm', v. alor , tūn . The Alretune of DB f.267b has been identified with Ollerton, v. Tait 215n., cf. 1290, but that entry in DB is under Hamestan (Maccesfield) Hundred. If this identification stands, part of Ollerton was in that Hundred. Ollerton adjoins Warford, part of which also was in Hamestan Hundred, v. Great Warford, Little Warford & Old Warford 82, 83infra , 1 104. Alretone DB 266b has been taken for Ollerton but it is probably Alretunstall 31supra .
