Etymology

'The booths, the herdsmen's shelters, the out-pastures', v. bōth .Booths was manorially divided into Knutsford Booths and Norbury Booths. Knutsford Booths is 'the part of Booths belonging to Knutsford; the higher town of Knutsford', v. bōth , uferra , cf. Knutsford 73supra , Norbury Booths infra . The same type of p.n. is found in Lymm Booths and Somerford Booths 37supra , 1 63. The original parochial chapel of Knutsford lay in Knutsford Booths, v. St John's infra .
