Etymology
This parish was created by Act of Parliament 1741, when St Mary's Chapel in Nether Knutsford became the parish church. This had been a chapel of ease to Knutsford Chapel at St John's infra (v. NotCestr 343, 344 n3), a parochial chapel of Rostherne parish 45supra . The chapelry contained 1. Bexton, 2 & 3. Nether and Over Knutsford (now both included in Knutsford c.p.), 4. Ollerton, 5. Toft.
