Etymology

Easterlane Fm (101–797855), cf. Eastoe Lane 24supra (1860 White), and the f.ns. in Hale and Ringway, the Great Easto (e ), Little Easto (e ) & Long Easto (e ), Mean Eastoes & Perrin Eastoes 1637Chol , Long Yeastow 1838TA 183. The additions mean and perrin are (ge)mǣne 'common', and the surname Perrin in Perrin 's Tenement 1780 Cre. The series of f.ns. Easto (e ) is associated with that part of Ringway township which is adjacent to Halebarns 24supra and which Bry includes in the east end of Hale township. It is, therefore, probably identical with Easthal (e )1260 Court (p), Plea, Estale 1282 Court (p), 'the east part of Hale', or 'the eastern halh', v. ēast , halh , cf. Hale 24supra .
