. Oaks , the Three Brother Tree 1669 CliffordL 137, 3 Brothers Tree 1777 M ; according to 1777 NB398 , ' here were anciently oak trees of prodigious growth ' , and ' theframe of one remains 13 yards in circumference ' ( cf. also CliffordL137 note 2 ) ; the allusion in the name is obscure .
