Etymology

( 6 ″ ) , cf. tenement called Quynelles (1540MinAcct ) . We find the Quennell family in the 16th cent , in Petworth and Lurgashall (Wills) , cf. also Quennell Ho ( Kirdford ) which is possibly the place referred to in 1540 . Redhill Ho , cf. Redehull al. Redehilles (1540MinAcct ) , probably with the same first element as Redlands supra .
