, Abbots Hill 1811 OS, 1842TA , alluding to the abbot of Sherborne ; for the lands here held by Sherborne Abbey from an early date , cf. the charter dated 998 ( 12 ) in SherC ( S 895 ) , frequent later references such as 1279 Cl , 1284–6 (Eliz) Kirkby, etc., Fowler 46 , and par . name supra . However the surnames of Elizabeth Abbott 1664 HTax and John Abbott 1799ERO should perhaps also be noted .
