Etymology

Paxlet Plantation (6″) is Pac (c )heslade c. 1210 HMC Var i, 1403 SarumD and C , Peccheslade 1331 ib., copice called Pasheslade t. Hy 8Rental . Probably 'Pæcci 's slæd,' cf. Patching (PN Sx 248). The personal name may also be found in Paxdoune (1570 PembSurv) in this parish.
