Etymology

Coxley (Beck), Cockesclo 1190–1204 YCh 1688, 13 Riev, Coxley Mill 1794 PRThl, Cocksleybrook 1720WYEnr 172, probably a compound of cocc 2 'a cock' and clōh 'dell', but the identification of Cockesclo is not certain as it is described as in territorio de Floketona (Riev 241), that is, Flockton 203supra .
