'Black marsh', v. blæc , kjarr; this p.n. has been suggested (YAJ xxxv, 235) to have originated in the name of the Blacker family (cf. Blacker i, 292supra ), but this is a common YW p.n. and may well be a spontaneous and descriptive p.n.
