Ear Moits (local), 1809TA , the Eymotes 1527 MethMR, 'pasture called Finotes (sic for Emotes ) at the meetinge of the waters' 1592 Meth, Upper erits & lower erits (sic)1699 AireSurv. v. ēa-mōt 'rivers' meet', that is, the confluence of the Calder and the Aire.
