Thorpes, Torp 12 YD i, Thorpe 1842TA , cf. also Jakeman Thorpe , Little Thorpe , Long Thorpe , Senior Thorpe , Shackle -Thorpe 1842TA , v. þorp 'outlying Farmstead'; these various Thorpes are f.ns.; Jakeman and Senior are surnames, and Shackle appears also in Shackley Thorne 1842TA (cf. Shackleton iii, 201infra ).
