Etymology

Long Drax is on the bank of the R. Ouse and Langrick Reach infra is the name of a stretch of that river. The name means 'long stretch of the river', v. lang , racu 'stream, bed of a stream or river', as also in Langrick Ferry L (Langrakboth 1243 Cl). This p.n. influenced the form of Drax supra and was itself later affected by Drax.
