Black Fen Plant., Blakefen 1292, 1323MinAcct , le Bla (c )kfen 1341Surv 10, 5, 1424 Rent. 'Black marsh', v. blæc , fenn , cf. Black Fen in Bramham 83supra ; the two names refer to the same marsh which extended from Bramham into Barwick.
