Etymology

Tickfold Fm is Tickefeld (1551 SRS 14, 178), Tickfelde , Tyckfolde (1551 Pat), Tyckfold (1643 SRS 14, 160). Possibly 'Ticca 's fold,' as in Ickenham (PN Mx 51) and Tickenham (So). The name is not on record but would be a regular reduction of such a diminutive as Tīdica from Tīda or Tīdi . OE  ticcen , 'kid,' is also possible.
