Etymology

Cooksbridge is Cooke 's Bridge in 1590 (SAC 17, 86) and is probably to be associated with the family of Thomas Coke of Hamsey (1543 SAC 17, 85). In 1635 there is mention also of a place called Cookspike al. Parkfield in Hamsey (SRS 14, 26).
