Etymology

Kewhurst Ho is probably identical with Kæia weorðe 772 (c. 1300) BCS 208, Kaynworth c. 1200 Battle 43, Keyworth 1296 SR (p), 13th BM 6344 Hayley , Caeworth (e ), Kayworth (e ), Cayworth (e )1306AOMB 57(p). 'Cæga 's worþ.' Cf. Keyworth (Nt). For the pers. name and its distribution v. IPN 180. Keyworth is associated in the 13th cent. with le Grene (v. Grinses Fm supra ) and Kewhurst and Grinses Fm are not far apart, so Mr Ray suggests the identification of Keyworth and Kewhurst. v. Addenda supra v.
