Etymology

There were two parishes, one containing East and West Lavant, and the other Mid Lavant. The latter corresponded to the manor of Raughmere.As a peculiar of the Archbishop of Canterbury, East and West Lavant were sometimes reckoned in Pagham Hundred (cf. 1327 SR) (W.D.P.).
