Emley Fm is Imbeleg '1255Ass , Ymbeleghe 1344, Ymbele 1377Ct (all p), Imley 1548LRMB , Emley t. Ed 6Rental . v. leah . The first element is identical with that of Imbhams Fm supra 205.Hence 'wood or clearing where bees swarm.' Cf. on imba lea (BCS 778) in Berks.
