Chocolates (6″) is Chertelease 1548LRMB , Cherteles t. Ed 6Loseley , Cherkeleys 1573Deed . This is a compound of OE  ceart, discussed under Churt supra 178, and læs , 'pasture or meadow land.' Chocolates is now the name of a wood on the greensand here.
