Etymology

Britty Hill (6″) is Brettehore 1447, Brettore 1453, Britter 1474, Brittor 1498Rental , Bryttie hill 1598 SrWills. This may be 'Beorhta 's slope or hillside,' v. ora , or 'bright slope,' v. beorht , but there is very little to go upon. Cf. Briddinghurst and Bertie Grove supra 18, 79.
