Etymology

Danfords (lost) is Derneforde 1275 RH, 1332, 1396 StPauls MSS, 1412 FF, Darnford 1669StPauls , Great Danfords , Little Danfords c. 1840TA . 'Secret or hidden ford,' from OE  dierne , cf. Durnford (PN W 363). The name must have referred to a ford over the Pymmes Brook.
