Etymology
Troy Mill is terram vocatam Le Troye t. Ed 2 Gesta, land called la Troye 1338 Pat, Troy Farm 1718Kings . The land may well have been so called from some old association with the story of Troy, so common a theme of medieval romance. Cf. the discussion of Trøjborg in Sønderjyske Stednavne iii, 284–5, where we have illustrations of the Troy-saga in Danish place-names.
