Etymology

'Cūþhere 's cottage(s),' v. cot(e), with connective ing . The Cuðing - form may be an early reduction of Cuðering -, or a new form from Cūða , a pet-form of Cūðhere . For the early reduction of ing to i cf. Udimore (PN Sx 516) and Bodymore (PN Wa 16).For medial r cf. Caddington supra 31.
