Etymology

Quinbury is Quenebury 1325FF , Quenbury 1527 LP, Quinborowe 1591 Sess. 'Queen's manor,' v. burh and Queenbury supra 161. The manor represents the land in Braughing parish granted by Stephen and Queen Maud to Hubert de Anstey, the Queen's chamberlain (cf. 1135–53 AD i).
