Braughing Friars

Early-attested site in the Parish of Braughing

Etymology

Braughing Friars is possibly the land held by the Priory of Haliwell from the time of Richard I (Dugdale iv, 391). The grant was to nuns but 'friars' is occasionally used thus generically (VCH iii, 314).
