Etymology

Bozen Green is Bordesdene 1086 DBet freq to 1303 FA , Bordestone 1208FF , Borddesdene 1213 ib., Bordlesdene 13th AD i, Bordesdane 13th AD iii, 1220 Fees, Borsden feld t. Ed 4Kings , Bosden Green 1626Rental , Bursden Green 1676 S. 'Bord 's valley,' v. denu . For the personal name, v. Bordesley (PN Wo 365, PN Wa 29). On the whole this seems more likely than Ekwall's assumption (DEPN s. n. Bordesley) of a personal name Brord for this name, for Boston (Mx), earlier Bordeston , and for Bordesley (Wo) and (Wa) (if the latter be a distinct name), which necessitates our assuming complete disappearance of the first r by dissimilation.
