Etymology

'Athelmund's farmstead', v. -ing 4 , tūn . The OE  pers.n. Æþelmund appears as Ailmund in DB (cf. Feilitzen 102 ff, 185, and Elberton 113supra ). It is not certain whether medial -ing - represents -ing 4 or is an adaptation of -mund .
