Etymology

Lugdown (lost), Lokedon 1516MinAcct , Luckedun 1540 ib, Luckdowne 1575TRMB , 1641 Inq, Luckdon c. 1580LRMB , Louckdowne 1575TRMB , Lugdown 1839TA . 'Luca's hill', v. dūn . The OE  pers.n. Luca is not recorded but, according to Ekwall 302, it occurs in OE lucan beorh 961 BCS 1066 and lucan weorðig 930 ib 1343. The TA map locates this partly in Hinton and partly in Hamfallow at grid- point 156–672004 (TA 13/22, nos. 512, 519, 530).
