Etymology

Pimbury Park, probably named after Richard Pinbury 1724 PR 10, p. 17, whose name may be derived from Pinbury Park (73supra ).There is, however, some uncertainty about the identification of many spellings with this name or with Pinbury Park; they include Pendebur 1291 Tax, 1309MinAcct 856, 17, 1325 ib 15, Peendebury 1380 ib, Puyndebury 1411 ib, Pyndeburg 1418Rent 11, 240, Pynbury 1453MinAcct 857, 11, parco domine Pyndbury 1483 ib, and seem to belong to the Avening-Minchinhampton area. It may of course be a manorial name derived from that of a family who came from Pinbury Park, but if not, it has a similar origin, 'Penda's fortified place', v. burh .
