'The nook of the people of Curra ,' v. healh , ing , and cf. Corringham infra 151. The local [skrindʒəlz] shows first a shifting of the stress (cf. Wraysbury and Shrington for Sherington, PN Bk xxvi and [kræmptən] for Carhampton (So)), and secondly the addition of an inorganic s found also in Scaldhurst infra 180. See also s. n.
