Etymology

'Brūn 's spur of land,' v. hoh . The manorial use of burh . For the development of u to i , v. PN Wo xxviii, PN D xxxiv. This development is found also in Brinsley (PN Nt 23), where in DB four bovates were held by Brūn ; cf. also Brownsover (PN Wa 34, 35), which was held by another Brūn (Lat  Bruno ) in 1086.
