Etymology

'Ford frequented by the sandpiper or dunlin', v. stint , ford , cf. on stintes ford (e ), æt stintes ford (e )892 BCS 567, 934 ib 699 (in bounds of North Newnton W), Stinchcombe Gl 2250. The ford was no doubt across R. Frome or some branch of it.
