Etymology
A detached parish. Little Bredy and Kingston Russell (now separate pars. supra ) were originally parochial chapelries in this par. though tithings in Uggescombe hundred (Boswell 17, 19, Hutch3 2185–7, 189–92). A detached part of Litton Cheney par. (comprising Ashley and Gorwell) was transferred to Long Bredy in 1884 (Kelly).
