Etymology

'Farm at a dry place', v. ēg , tūn . The village stands at the end of a spur running down between two streams. The topography suggests marshy valleys on either side of the site. Eaton adjoins Tarporley 294infra . Eaton has been proposed for Etone 1086 DB f.267b, v. Hatton near Waverton, 326infra .
