Etymology

( 109–563665 ) , cf. Forest Field , Further Forest , Lower Forest 1838ib , named from its proximity to the boundary of Delamere 211supra , v. forest . The spring adjacent to the farm is Newfound Well 1831Bry , the Newe found Welle 1600 Orm2 ii252 , the late new found well 1656 ib 11 , a therapeutic spring , said in 1600 ( Orm 2 loc. cit . ) to have been anciently celebrated as St Stephen 's Well , in Delamere Forest . The reason for its name would seem to be the re - discovery of its properties about 1600 .
