Etymology

'Farm called after Uttoc', from an OE  pers.n. Uttoc (diminutive of the OE  pers.n. Utta ) and -ingtūn, with hall , myln . The form Hudekintona indicates a thirteenth-century popular derivation from a ME  pers.n., Hudekin , diminutive of Hudde , a pet-form of Hugh or Richard (cf. Bardsley, Reaney, s.n. Hudd ). The pers.n. Uttoc also appears in the unidentified Uttokishal 1289 Court 144, 'Uttoc's nook or valley', v. halh , perhaps in Sa.
