Pykford (lost), Pykford 1357Eyre , Pikeford c.1280Dow 11, 1286Eyre (p), Pykeford 1288 Court (p), Pykeforde 1351Eyre , Picford 1352ib , Pykford 1357ib , Pikkeford 1460Dow (p), 'pike ford', v. pīc 'the pike (a fish)', ford .Dow 11 is a grant of Doghillgreen supra to Richard de Worth (Bryant shows Doghillgreen as a detached part of Worth hamlet), with 'a portion of heath lying between Doggehul (Doghillgreen supra ) and the fields of Pikeford and the boundary of Bromhale (Bramhall)'. The ford was probably near Mill Hill Bridge infra , 101–916853. A local surname, de Pycford , Pykford , (later Pickford ), is common about Macclesfield 1337Eyre , probably from this place, but perhaps from Piggford Moor 162supra , cf. Ladythorn 260infra .
