Etymology

'Ælle's plot of arable land', from the OE  pers.n. Ælle and æcer.For the palatalized form of æcer, cf. Cliviger La 84. The forms -ynger , -inger , -iger are analogous with those of certain Ch p.ns. in -ingham , cf. 28. Alsager was originally in Mildestuic (Northwich) hundred, cf. 1supra .
