Etymology

The first element is the old name Icel found also in Ickleford (PN Herts 12) and Icklesham (PN Sx 510). Hence 'Icel 's farm,' v. ingtūn .St Guthlac was 'of the most ancient and noble race called Iclingas ' (Guthlac c. 1).
