Etymology

Orneldene (lost). Cf. Ornedene , Ornedenehyll 1455Rental , Ornedenehill 1483 ib., Wornelbussh 1455 ib., Wornehill , Wornelledene , Ornel (l )edene 1483 ib.The first element is OE  worn , weorn , 'a swarm, band, flock,' used of a flock of birds and a herd of pigs. To this was added denu, hyll , and then to worn-hyll was again added denu . Hence 'pig-valley and hill' and then 'valley by pig-hill.'
