Ekwall (DEPN) gives an OE pers.n. Dydda , which he assumes to be a side-form of Dudda , as the first el. of this name, and of Dedham Ess and Tidenham Gl; v. also Gl 2, 9. Peter de Loring held land here at the beginning of the 13th, and John Maunsell is mentioned in this connection in 1313 (VCH III, 74).
