, 1823 M , Bindelose 1770 M , probably named from the family of Ralland Bindles or Reginald Byndles of Casterton 1560, 1574 Kend ii, 333, 336 ; other members of the family occur in Mansergh ( 1576 Kend ii, 386 ) , cf. also Bindlowes lands in Kendal (i, 126infra ) ; the surname , first recorded in Y , is from OE  bindan ' bind ' and OFr  lou ' wolf ' , and means ' wolf-trapper ' ( Reaney 33 ) .
